VOILIA, a system restart was all that was needed and now my old ColorMunki works just fine. Suddenly, a voice inside my head said, "RESTART your computer first."

I was about to remove and reinstall the software, but something in the device manage info mentioned that the device might have problems having its driver activated after sleep mode.

Yet the device software still couldn't recognize it. I followed tips to look for the device in device manager, and I ran an option to "check the device" which confirmed that my device is working properly. This led me to search for others with this problem & I found this thread. I assumed that my device had died, because the connection where the USB cable goes in has become "wobbly." I took a deep breath, and went to buy a new ColorMunki Photo today (gulp, another $500.) only to find the new one didn't work either. However, last night, my device could not be recognized by the ColorMunki software. I have used Color Munki for 4 years and never had trouble, even on my newest PC with Windows 8. Janneman ( adaptation of the Kings quote from Albert Einstein) The difference between genius and LBA is that genius has its ColorMunki Display can compensate for this effect and provide the option to automatically adjust your profile or simply notify you as ambient light conditions change. What baffles me too is that while searchin for answers I cannot find any forum where somene else has the same problem and a solution.Īnybody knows the problem and has a solution I understand? (Of course I do have windows 7 in Dutch and the support is in english but that should not be too big a problem.) Now why don't I understand the proceudre? I am not a computer wizzard nor digitally illiterate but so far I have never had a problem with installing anything at all. Got me a colormunki and after istalling the device is not recognized.Īpparently it is a common problem as this features on the support pages but I cannot say the explanation there is of much help. Give it a try and let me know if this works for you. After speaking to technical support, the problem was resolved by going to Services under Administrative Tools and turning off, reboooting, then tuning on the service for Colormunki. I will confirm once I make a profile, which I haven't yet had the chance to do.I had a similar problem. I now doubt that dispcalGUI/Argyll is the problem. The sRGB/Adobe RGB emulation modes also now work again (they didn't when the monitor was driven in YPbPr mode colors were wildly oversaturated). In fact, when I went to System Profiler, under Displays, it had my Dell U2711 monitor listed as a television (Television: Yes).Īndreas Schwarz, bless his heart, has created a Ruby script that generates a folder/file that you can place in /System/Library/Displays/Overrides.Īfter a restart, the monitor is now driven in RGB mode. Something about that combination with OS X 10.8 (maybe 10.7 as well?) is causing the OS to drive the monitor in YPbPr mode ('Television' mode) as opposed to RGB. That was my problem, & I have a feeling it has to do with my use of a mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable across the Thunderbolt interface. Check if your monitor is being driven in YPbPr color mode, instead of RGB. I found a fix for my problem, though I don't know if we all are experiencing the same issue. which makes me think it's some driver issue. Should be the same as my last setup, I would think. I'm using that same cable on this new Retina MacBook Pro, which has a Thunderbolt output. My previous laptop had a mini displayport output, which I used a miniDP to DP cable with.

Some driver with some OS update may have broken things. I wonder if the other users above were experiencing the same problem, as they were also on OS X/Macs, not Windows/PCs.

I'll troubleshoot this again tomorrow & report back. I just know that previously, on my older MacBook Pro, my Dell U2711 received a RGB signal. Perhaps that's where things are going wrong. 2 Connect the calibrator to the USB IN port of the PC or the monitor.

And I think it has to do with my Retina Macbook Pro, DisplayPort, OS X 10.8, nVidia drivers combo.Įssentially, for whatever reason, my MacBook Pro is outputting a YPbPr signal instead of RGB to my Dell U2711. Downloading from the LG Electronics website. Just so you don't go on a wild goose chase- I think I have a clue as to what may be wrong.
